Leaders in Butebo District have highlighted major transformational strides achieved under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, ranging from peace and stability to infrastructural and social service improvements.

Speaking during the NRM Presidential Campaign rally at Butebo District Headquarters, the District NRM Chairperson Dr. Monica Musenero, who also serves as the Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation, noted that Butebo has witnessed remarkable progress over the years. Key achievements include an improved road network, establishment of administrative infrastructure at the district and sub-county levels, enhanced education and health services, and implementation of the Parish Development Model, which has so far benefited 18,569 residents.

During the rally, NRM Presidential Candidate Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni commended Butebo leaders for their proper utilization of government resources, particularly in road maintenance. He announced plans for the construction of several new tarmac roads, including; Pallisa–Butebo–Mbale Road, Tororo–Nagongera–Busolwe Road and Nabumali–Butaleja–Namutumba Road, among others.

The President also revealed that Butebo and Pallisa Districts have been included on the list of areas scheduled for cattle restocking, a government initiative aimed at restoring livelihoods affected by past instabilities and cattle rustling.

Gen. Museveni further praised Butebo District for its effective maintenance of marrum roads and urged other districts to emulate its example to avoid shoddy works.

In addition, the President confirmed new water supply projects to supplement existing clean and safe water coverage in 233 out of 268 villages across the district. Planned developments include the Manyowe Solar-Powered Water Scheme, the Kapelayi Water Supply System, and several new dams to enhance piped water distribution.

Highlighting his Wealth Creation and 4-Acre Model, Gen. Museveni encouraged residents to engage in commercial agriculture, industrialization, and service sectors as viable paths to job and wealth creation.

On social development, the NRM Presidential Candidate reaffirmed government commitment to strengthening education and health infrastructure in Butebo. He urged parents and community leaders to continue supporting the Universal Primary and Secondary Education (UPE/USE) policies to ensure equal access to quality education for all children.

The Butebo rally underscored the district’s growing role as a model for effective local governance and development under the NRM government.
