First Lady and Ntungamo District NRM Chairperson, Maama Janet Kataha Museveni, has highlighted significant development achievements and socioeconomic transformation registered in Ntungamo District under the leadership of the NRM government.

Speaking at the NRM presidential campaign rally at Kyamate Primary School Playgrounds, Maama Janet Museveni noted that the creation of Ntungamo District has spurred remarkable growth—its population rising from 380,000 to 553,000 people, alongside major expansions in infrastructure including roads, electricity, water systems, health facilities, and schools.
She also underscored the impact of government-funded wealth creation initiatives such as the UGX 39 billion Parish Development Model (PDM) disbursed to 38,693 beneficiaries, the UGX 3.8 billion Emyooga program, as well as the Youth Livelihood and Women Empowerment programs. According to her, these interventions have strengthened household incomes and accelerated socioeconomic transformation.

Maama Janet Museveni further highlighted the expansion of over 700km of tarmac roads, improved water access, and increased electricity distribution across Ntungamo. She urged NRM supporters to mobilize family members and peers to turn up on voting day, vote overwhelmingly for the NRM, and safeguard the party’s victory.

Addressing the same rally, NRM Presidential Candidate, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, outlined the progress achieved in peace, education, healthcare, electricity, wealth creation, and job creation—describing them as proof of the NRM’s capacity to propel Uganda to greater heights.
The President guided residents to differentiate between development and wealth creation, noting that while government provides infrastructure, individuals must seize available opportunities to build wealth. He encouraged the public to maximize programs like PDM, Emyooga, the Youth Livelihood Fund and the Women Empowerment Fund.

President Museveni also cautioned PDM committees in Ntungamo against demanding collateral security from beneficiaries, directing that such practices stop immediately.
He announced upcoming tarmac projects including the Mirama Hills–Kitwe–Rugorogota–Kitagata Road, Nyamuyanja–Kabuyanda Road, and Kitwe–Rukoni–Bugamba Road, adding that more developments are planned for the district.
The President emphasized the need to protect the peace and stability that have enabled Ntungamo’s progress. He pledged to scale up irrigation infrastructure, boost agricultural productivity, and expand public services in education, health, and electricity distribution.

Highlighting the NRM’s industrialization agenda, President Museveni said Ntungamo residents will benefit from increased job opportunities through commercial agriculture, ICT, and the services sector. He also underscored the importance of free universal education, noting its contribution to skills development and job creation—citing graduates from the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hub in the Ankole Sub-region who have become entrepreneurs.
He urged Ntungamo residents to vigorously defend the universal education policy to ensure its full implementation.
