Residents of Kigungu–Mayanzi in Entebbe Municipality are in shock following the allegations of abduction of their neighbour, Mbaziira Peter, a special-hire taxi driver at Entebbe International Airport.

According to Richard Sekyondo, the Entebbe Division B chairperson and head of security in the area, the incident stems from an altercation that occurred on November 11. On that day, a group of NRM supporters was moving around the Kigungu area putting up posters of aspiring candidates on walls, trees, and kiosks. The group later approached Mbaziira’s house.

Sekyondo alleges that Mbaziira firmly told the group not to place posters on his house, a request that sparked a scuffle and an exchange of harsh words. Residents who witnessed the confrontation claim that the NRM supporters warned Mbaziira and threatened to “deal with him” over his refusal to allow posters on his property.

According to Sekyondo, on November 17, Mbaziira was allegedly abducted from his workplace at Entebbe Airport, and his whereabouts remain unknown. Friends and relatives claim they have searched for him in various police stations and prisons, but their efforts have been futile.
Sekyondo alleges that Mbaziira, known to be a strong NUP supporter, was abducted on the orders of senior unnamed NRM figures in Entebbe who want to force him to publicly declare allegiance to their camp.

He further claims that friends and relatives of Mbaziira have received threats warning them against taking any action, leaving the family distressed and frustrated.
Sekyondo has called on those allegedly responsible to release Mbaziira unconditionally, noting that he has a family to care for and a life to live.
