Museveni Confirms Cabinet Approval of Cash Cattle Restocking for Lango, Teso and Acholi at Kole Rally

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has confirmed that Cabinet has approved a cattle restocking initiative for the Lango, Teso and Acholi sub-regions, to be implemented through cash compensation. Payments to beneficiary households are expected to commence immediately after the general elections.

General Museveni explained that the earlier cattle restocking programme was derailed by prolonged court cases and lawyers who misled beneficiaries for personal gain. He noted that government had already injected Shs159 billion into the compensation programme before anomalies were detected, prompting his directive to halt its implementation.

According to the President, Cabinet has now resolved that beneficiaries be paid in cash, adding that funds for the programme are readily available. He made the remarks while addressing an NRM presidential campaign rally at Aculbanya Primary School playgrounds in Kole District, Lango sub-region.

At the same rally, General Museveni urged voters in Kore District to continue trusting the NRM government, citing its strategic approach to national development and socio-economic transformation. He cautioned the electorate against opposition leaders whom he accused of promoting sectarianism and disunity.

The President credited the NRM government with restoring national unity and rebuilding key institutions, including security agencies, the civil service and development frameworks. He further called on voters to support all NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming elections to consolidate these gains.

General Museveni highlighted the positive impact of wealth creation initiatives on Uganda’s export earnings and Gross Domestic Product, and pledged to scale up funding under the Parish Development Model (PDM). He also promised additional wealth creation funds for Kole District, targeting more beneficiary sectors.

He reaffirmed government’s commitment to boosting industrialisation and commercial agriculture in the Lango sub-region to create jobs and increase household incomes. The President also unveiled plans for a large-scale fish farming initiative along wetland edges in Kole District, alongside major irrigation schemes to enhance agricultural productivity.

Sharing success stories, General Museveni encouraged residents to embrace commercial agriculture and irrigation as pathways to sustainable wealth creation.

NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Anita Among, outlined key development projects in Kore District and the wider Lango sub-region, including roads, health facilities and Akibua Stadium, urging voters to protect these achievements by re-electing the NRM government.

NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Hamson Obua, presented a status report on development in the region, while Northern Uganda Youth Member of Parliament, Okot Boniface, read the Kole District memorandum.
