The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has reaffirmed that the NRM remains a party of enlightenment with a clear and strategic focus on Uganda’s national interests, as demonstrated over its 40 years of governance.

Addressing party leaders and residents from the Acholi Sub-Region, President Museveni assured the community of the government’s commitment to cattle restocking programmes aimed at revitalising household incomes and livelihoods.

He directed NRM leaders to intensify voter sensitisation on the party manifesto across the Acholi Sub-Region ahead of this year’s polls, emphasizing the need for grassroots mobilisation and ideological clarity.

General Museveni also confirmed plans to strengthen party mobilisation structures, including the provision of motorcycles to NRM Local Council I (LCI) leaders and sub-county party leaders to enhance coordination and outreach.

While guiding NRM leaders from Acholi districts, the President underscored the importance of patriotism, regional markets, and the politics of unity, urging leaders to reject sectarianism and instead promote inclusive national development. He instructed them to further educate voters on NRM principles, values, and long-term development strategies.

The President further pledged to implement commercial fishing and other wealth creation interventions in the Acholi Sub-Region, citing successful examples from other parts of the country. He guided local leaders on practical wealth creation initiatives, proper enterprise selection, land utilisation for both small- and large-scale landowners, and key job opportunity sectors.

Meanwhile, the NRM Vice Chairperson for the Northern Region, Dennis Hamson Obua, revealed that regional leaders have resolved to competitively mobilise votes in support of President Museveni. He also presented a statistical overview of the region’s voter population, highlighting its strategic importance in the forthcoming elections.
