The National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Chairman and Presidential Candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has dispatched teams of NRM leaders from all districts in the West Nile sub-region to intensify party campaigns and grassroots sensitization on the NRM manifesto ahead of next week’s national elections.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony at Muni University playgrounds in Arua City, President Museveni guided leaders through key details of the NRM manifesto, highlighting the party’s core contributions to Uganda, including peace and stability, social and economic development, wealth and job creation through industrialization, improved road infrastructure, schools, and health facilities.

The President rallied the electorate in West Nile to uphold politics of ideology and national interest, cautioning against sectarianism and identity-based politics, which he said had previously undermined Uganda’s unity and progress under past regimes.
President Museveni emphasized the NRM’s guiding principles of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, democracy, and socio-economic transformation as the foundation of sustainable national development.

Addressing issues of migration, the President expressed support for former US President Donald Trump’s mass deportation program and urged Ugandans to abandon what he termed the “diaspora illusion.” He encouraged citizens to return home and invest in developing their motherland, noting that Uganda has built strong institutional capacity in civil service and national defense to protect investments and wealth creation initiatives.
He outlined key job and wealth creation sectors with practical examples for aspiring entrepreneurs and confirmed plans to tighten Parish Development Model (PDM) regulations to curb irregularities while expanding the initiative’s impact and reach.

President Museveni reaffirmed the NRM government’s commitment to maintaining access to affordable capital for wealth creators at all levels and announced plans to roll out aggressive fish farming schemes for districts along the Nile Valley in the West Nile region. He also pledged to intensify wealth creation initiatives in his next term of office.
Additionally, the President called on leaders in West Nile to identify and allocate land of at least one square mile for the establishment of an industrial park, drawing comparisons to existing industrial hubs such as Namanve, Mbale, Kapeeka, and Mukono.

He further confirmed that West Nile would be included in the planned cattle restocking program for Northern Uganda, which had earlier been earmarked for the Teso, Lango, and Acholi sub-regions.
President Museveni urged West Nile leaders and residents to continue preaching peace to prevent a recurrence of historical instability that previously hindered development in the area.

NRM leaders from West Nile, led by Arua City NRM Chairperson Hon. Zoe Bakoko Bakoru, presented a regional memorandum to the President during the engagement.
The meeting marked the conclusion of the NRM leadership engagement in West Nile with the party’s National Chairman and Presidential Candidate at Muni University in Arua City.
