Kalungu East MP-Elect Nkeretanyi Kiruuta Charged Over Shs3.7bn Curtain Theft

Buganda Road Magistrates Court has charged Kalungu East MP-elect Yusuf Kiruuta Nkeretanyi with theft of curtains valued at Shs3.7 billion.

Nkeretanyi appeared before Chief Magistrate Ritah Kidasa Neumbe alongside six other accused persons, all facing charges of theft.

According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly stole curtains, cushions, and curtain holders worth Shs3.7 billion from businessman Hajj Sulaiman Lwabuuka Kasule. The offences are said to have occurred between 2018 and January 2022 at Eagle Plaza in Kampala’s Central Division.

During the court session, the allegedly stolen items were presented as exhibits. The accused were later released on bail.
