Man Arrested for Impersonating Security Officer, Threatening Public

By Robert Segawa

Police in Nateete have arrested a 26-year-old man, identified as Abdul Serugo, for allegedly impersonating a security officer and threatening members of the public.

Serugo, a resident of Bombo Kalule in Luwero District, was apprehended following an incident that occurred on April 21 at around 5:00 p.m. along the Northern Bypass. He is accused of threatening to shoot civilians during a misunderstanding, while falsely claiming to be a security officer.

As tensions escalated, a concerned member of the public alerted security authorities, prompting a swift response from joint security agencies.

Toy Pistol

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, officers arrived promptly at the scene and arrested the suspect. A search conducted upon arrest led to the recovery of a toy pistol. Serugo was also found wearing footwear resembling military boots and an SFC T-shirt.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect may be linked to a group targeting and robbing unsuspecting victims along the Northern Bypass.

Police have since registered a case of personation and threatening violence. Statements have been recorded from eyewitnesses, and the suspect is currently detained at Nateete Police Station. The case file has been forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for further legal guidance.
