Kikubo Businessman Charged with Murder After Allegedly Shooting Maid’s Boyfriend

By Robert Segawa

A prominent businessman from Kikubo is set to appear before Makindye Magistrate’s Court over allegations of shooting dead his housemaid’s boyfriend and injuring the maid after reportedly finding the two together at his residence.

The incident occurred at the home of Mulwana John Peter, 41, a resident of Kalungu Cell in Bunga, Makindye Division.

Police identified the deceased as Kevin Atwizukire, who was reportedly in a relationship with the housemaid, Nelima Joan, 23, who sustained injuries during the shooting.

According to preliminary police investigations, on April 26, 2026, Joan allegedly invited Atwizukire, her boyfriend, to visit her at her workplace — the residence of Mulwana. Upon arrival, the gateman reportedly allowed him into the compound, and he proceeded to Joan’s quarters at the back of the residence.

At the time, Mulwana was reportedly away from home. However, the gateman, identified as Tumwekwase Geld, allegedly informed him that an unfamiliar man had entered the maid’s room.

Police say Mulwana immediately returned home and was let into the compound by the gateman. He allegedly went straight to the maid’s room and knocked on the door. Upon the door being opened, Mulwana — who was armed with a pistol — allegedly shot Joan before turning the gun on Atwizukire as he attempted to flee. Atwizukire was reportedly shot dead instantly near the gate.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said officers from Kabalagala Police responded swiftly to the scene and arrested both Mulwana and the gateman to assist with investigations.

Owoyesigyire added that Scene of Crime officers cordoned off the area, recorded statements from the surviving victim and eyewitnesses, and recovered the suspected murder weapon — a pistol — along with two spent cartridges.

The body of the deceased was taken to the City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Police said the case file was submitted to the Resident State Attorney, who sanctioned charges of murder and attempted murder against the suspect.

Mulwana is expected to appear before Makindye Magistrate’s Court, while the injured maid continues to receive treatment at Rapha Clinic in Kabalagala.
