Several prominent members of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) could face disciplinary action, including possible dismissal from the party, over alleged misconduct and violations of the party constitution.
The allegations were disclosed by the UPC Head of Media and Communications, Faizo Muzeyi, while addressing the media at the party headquarters in Kampala on Wednesday.
Muzeyi named the members as Enap Adim Denis, Jack Kabusu, Magero Emmanuel Were, Natukunda Nawume Aisha, Achola Susan, Ongom Chris, Ogwal Andyebo, Ewal George and Babirye Josephine, among others.
According to Muzeyi, the members are accused of various forms of misconduct, including allegedly forging party letterheads, stamps and seals, as well as making false representations among others
He said the cases are currently before the party’s National Disciplinary Committee, which is hearing the allegations. Muzeyi explained that if the committee finds the accused members guilty, they could face disciplinary measures, including dismissal from the party, in accordance with the UPC Constitution of 2008, as amended, and the party’s rules of procedure.
Muzeyi said the National Disciplinary Committee officially commenced its proceedings on September 1, 2026, at Garden Inn Hotel in Lira City. He added that the proceedings were adjourned to September 3, 2026, when the committee is expected to resume the hearings at the party headquarters at Uganda House in Kampala.
The UPC communications official commended the National Disciplinary Committee for what he described as the successful conduct of its first hearing.
“We wish to emphasize that the Committee is an independent organ of the party and shall communicate the outcome of the ongoing proceedings at an appropriate time in accordance with established procedures,” Muzeyi said.
He further disclosed that disciplinary committees at the sub-county level in different parts of the country are also handling cases within their respective mandates and jurisdictions.
Muzeyi called on all UPC members to conduct party business in strict adherence to the party’s Code of Conduct and within the framework of Ugandan law.
The allegations against the named members remain subject to determination by the relevant disciplinary committees, and no final decision has been announced regarding their culpability.
