Women have been tipped on how to become precious instruments in God’s kingdom, to nation, communities and their families.
The tips were given by the presiding bishop for the Evangelical Orthodox Church (EOC) in Uganda Jacinto Kibuuka at Mamre International Prayer Centre in Namugongo Janda Wakiso district while celebrating a special Divine Liturgy for the women on Sunday.
Bishop Kibuuka called on women to desist from acts of making false accusations, rumormongering, character assassination, envy, jealousy, fornication, adultery and wanting free things since such acts only cause pain to others.

He urged women to take good care of their husbands and children, to be prayerful, participate in God’s ministry especially by bring up their children in God. He also called on them to participate in empowerment and skilling programs which will uplift them socially, economically and politically as opposed to stealing the money left by husbands for house use commonly known as “Ezakameeza”.
He asserted that once the above is implemented than women will be honored, respected, given authority and leadership hence becoming a precious instrument to not only God but to everyone.
In the same way, the Commissioner in charge of nursing and midwifery in the ministry of health Agnes Chandia Baku urged women especially those in formal sector to stop abandoning their household duties since women are home makers and family pillars.

She said success will only come to those who have strong faith in God, those that are ready to take up every opportunity of empowerment and skilling that show up and those that are willing to enterprise.
She also urged women to always remember that they are the mothers of the nation and the pillar of the family hence they must be ethical, morally upright, trustworthy, respectful, loving, intelligent, caring, compassionate, and patient and have a strong belief in God and this they must teach to their children, spouse and communities.
In a sarcastic way, Baku called on men to start giving their wives development and maintenance money so that they save them from the temptation of stealing from money left for home use (Ezakameeza).
She further called on the public to join the cause of striving for good maternal health and the fight against gender based violence

Meanwhile the chairperson of the church’s organizing committee and the chairperson Mamre women’s saving group Christine Kajumba and Mary Kyomugisha respectively updated the church on the group’s development and their future prospects in order to fulfill the church’s mission of having a healthy spirit and body.
This year’s international women’s day is celebrated under the theme “Building on women’s strength for better future in a Covid-19 world” and the main celebrations in Uganda will be held at State house Entebbe.
