District Governor Batengas Lauds Rotary Club of Mengo for Transformative Projects

By Kabuye Ronald

District Governor D9214, Agnes Mongati Batengas, has praised the Rotary Club of Mengo for its impactful and transformative work in the region.

During her visit to the club at Pope Paul Hotel, DG Batengas commended the Mengo chapter for its intentional and well-structured projects that embody the essence of Rotary’s mission.

“Rotary Club of Mengo is one of our oldest and most distinguished clubs in District D9214. Their dedication to project-oriented work and their tangible impact on communities truly showcase the magic of Rotary,” said DG Batengas.

Among the initiatives highlighted was the club’s ongoing project in one of Kampala’s villages, where they are gradually transforming the area through various developmental efforts.

DG Batengas encouraged community members, corporates, and leaders to collaborate with Rotary to enhance the scale and effectiveness of these initiatives. “While individual efforts are valuable, collective action magnifies our impact. Let us join forces to achieve even greater milestones,” she urged.

In line with Rotary’s centennial celebrations, the club is actively participating in an environmental conservation campaign themed “Plant Your Balance.” The initiative encourages participants to plant a number of trees equal to the difference between 100 years and their age. DG Batengas stressed the importance of environmental stewardship and called upon Rotarians and the public to engage in this green initiative.

Additionally, DG Batengas emphasized the need to involve younger generations in Rotary’s mission.

“Recruiting Rotaractors into our clubs is crucial for ensuring the future of Rotary. By teaching young people the value of community service, we foster a culture of caring and improvement for generations to come,” she explained.

During the visit, Rotary Club of Mengo President Rtn. Pafrah Mulambuzi expressed gratitude for DG Batengas’s encouraging remarks. He announced a collaborative effort with the Catholic Church to plant trees around the Rubaga Catholic Church multipurpose playground, aiming to enhance the environment and beautify the area.
