Medical Trainees Urged to Combine Medical Expertise with Ideological Reform to Propel Uganda’s Development

By Kabuye Ronald

In a powerful address to over 200 new medical trainees at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyamkwamzi, Hon. Jeje Bakalikwira called for a transformative approach in their professional practice and ideological perspectives.

Bakalikwira, a prominent figure in Uganda’s political landscape, emphasized the importance of integrating ideological awareness with medical expertise to drive the nation forward.

During his lecture, Bakalikwira urged the trainees to leverage the ideological training they are receiving at NALI to address not only physical ailments but also ideological disorientation within society.

He challenged them to transcend traditional medical roles and become proactive agents of change, contributing to the country’s development by addressing deeper societal issues.

“Your role extends beyond treating diseases like malaria,” Bakalikwira said. “You must also tackle ideological challenges and work towards transforming our nation. With the ideological orientation you’ve gained, you are positioned as the messiahs of Uganda’s prosperity. Do not merely follow the crowds but actively contribute to overcoming obstacles that impede our progress.”

Earlier in the day, Major Daniel Masela, head of faculty at NALI Kyamkwamzi, delivered an insightful lecture on societal systems and the principles of change. Major Masela elaborated on both biblical and evolutionary theories of creation, illustrating how continuous change has shaped existence.

He explained that the present state of affairs is a result of ongoing transformation and that the ability to adapt and change is crucial for progress.

“Change is not accidental; it is deliberate and essential,” Major Masela noted. “Just as a seed needs space to germinate, so does humanity require the capacity to adapt and evolve. This process allows us to plan, propel, and modulate every aspect of our lives.”

The trainees were taught that change is integral to human existence and development, enabling transformation across different states of matter and societal structures.

Major Masela emphasized that understanding and embracing change is fundamental to effectively planning and driving progress in both personal and professional realms.

The lectures from both Bakalikwira and Major Masela aim to equip the trainees with a comprehensive understanding of their roles in shaping Uganda’s future, blending medical skills with a profound commitment to ideological and societal transformation.
