Tragic Fire Claims Life of 15-Year-Old Student

A devastating fire in Kisenyi 2 Zone, Kamwokya, has claimed the life of 15-year-old Kiiza Melisa Catherine, a student at City Side School in Kyebando.

The incident, which occurred after midnight, resulted in the destruction of makeshift structures and property worth millions.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, the fire broke out in timber and iron sheet structures, leaving them completely devastated.

The authorities swiftly responded, with the Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services and Uganda Red Cross working to control the blaze.

Kiiza’s body has been transferred to City Mortuary, Mulago, for a post-mortem examination. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, while officials continue to search the scene to ensure no additional victims are trapped.

The community mourns the loss of a bright student and grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event.
