The NRM National Treasurer Hon. Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oudo has urged the people of Busoga Subregion to concentrate their efforts on combatting household poverty through embracing empowerment programs of government like the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga among others.

”I thank everyone who has come here because it shows their commitment to fighting poverty. As the ruling party, we welcome the idea of coming together to mobilize resources that will aid in social economic transformation. This is inline with the NRM manifesto of securing the future,” Amb. Nekesa said.
She asked the locals to concentrate their energies more on improving family welfare other than castigating government.
”Your responsibility is wealth creation for your families through small scale manufacturing, commercial agriculture and services like good roads, schools, electricity among others,” Hon.Nekesa said.

In addition to SACCO formation, Nekesa advised the Busoga leaders to lobby and educate the locals about the existing poverty alleviation projects of government for sustainable development.

Contribution to NRM liberation struggle
Nekesa praised the people of Bugweri for contributing to the liberation struggle of Uganda through their children like the Late Rt. Hon. Alhajj. Kirunda Kivejinja.
Hajji. Kivejinja greatly sacrificed youthful age for prevailing peace and stability after the 5 year people’s protracted war in Luweero triangle.

”Uganda has been stable for the last 40 years. Thanks to President Yoweri Museveni and his combatants like your child the late Hajji. Kivejinja,” Nekesa said.
She reiterated that there is no longer state Inspired violence because of the NRM government policy of prioritizing peace and security but warned that the country can easily slide back incase of bad leadership, hence asking the people to renew President Museveni’s 2026 mandate.
