Andama Rogers Snell, a resident of Katabi in Wakiso District and grandson of former Ugandan president Idi Amin, has officially announced his intention to contest for the Entebbe Municipality parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections.

Andama, a professional surveyor, plans to run as an independent candidate, citing frustration with party politics. He argues that party-affiliated leaders have failed the people of Entebbe, particularly the youth.
“Over the years, the youth in Entebbe have been sidelined. There’s been no meaningful development, and the leaders with party cards have done more harm than good,” Andama said. “Once I am elected as a Member of Parliament, the youth of Entebbe will begin to enjoy all their rightful privileges.”

He is expected to face stiff competition from several candidates, particularly from the National Unity Platform (NUP), including incumbent MP Michael Kakembo Mbwatekamwa, Nabatta Namuli Joyce, Lubwama Stuart, Babirye Lillian, Masaazi Robert, and Mugabi John. Other contenders from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) include Namara Jovia, Shaka Steven, and Scholastica.
Andama’s entry into the race is set to add a fresh dynamic to the Entebbe political landscape, as he positions himself as a voice for the youth and a challenger to the traditional party system.
