More than 40 aspiring candidates under the Democratic Front have returned their expression of interest forms and been officially nominated on the first day of the party’s month-long primary exercise ahead of the upcoming general elections.

The exercise, which began today, Friday, saw a strong turnout. By 3 PM, over 40 hopefuls had submitted their forms, including nine parliamentary aspirants, LC5 chairpersons, city division mayors, district councilors, division mayors, sub-county councilors, as well as LC1 and LC2 chairpersons.

According to Mr. Henry Lubowa, Chairperson of the Democratic Front Electoral Commission, the opening day of nominations proceeded smoothly. However, he cautioned aspirants against attempting to influence the process through bribery, warning that bringing gifts or incentives to EC commissioners would not be tolerated.
