Ugandan singer Douglas Mayanja, popularly known as Weasel, is currently fighting for his life at Nsambya Hospital after allegedly being intentionally run over by his wife, Sandra Teta, in a violent domestic altercation.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night at Shan’s Bar in the Munyonyo suburb of Kampala, under the Makindye Division. Preliminary reports indicate that a heated argument broke out between the couple, which later escalated into a violent confrontation.
According to police, Sandra Teta allegedly got behind the wheel of a motor vehicle registered UBH 148Y and intentionally knocked down Weasel, causing him serious injuries. The vehicle has since been impounded and is parked at Kabalagala Police Station as part of the ongoing investigation.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident, stating that Weasel was initially rushed to Mukwaya Hospital before being transferred to Nsambya Hospital, where he remains admitted and under medical care.
Owoyesigyire added that police have opened an investigation into the case under charges of unlawful wounding. The suspect, Sandra Teta, is currently in custody at Kabalagala Police Station and is assisting with further inquiries.
Police have urged the public to refrain from speculation as investigations continue.
