Kasese Police Arrest Four Suspects Over Bugoye Police Station Attack

By Kabuye Ronald

Police in Kasese District have arrested four suspects believed to be part of a gang that attacked Bugoye Sub-county Police Station and attempted to seize a firearm from an officer on duty.

The incident occurred at Bugoye Sub-county Police Station, which operates under the police sub-county model.

According to police, a group of six suspects attacked the station and targeted the officer on duty in an attempt to take his firearm.

In a statement, Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke said the officer resisted the attackers and shot one of them in the leg.

The injured suspect fled the scene but was later found dead a short distance from the police station.

Kituuma said the identity of the deceased suspect had not yet been established.

Four suspects have since been arrested in connection with the attack. They are Irumba Simon, Kiiza Abson, Kadama George and Baluku Lenaxi.

Police also recovered a panga at the scene, while the body of the deceased suspect was conveyed to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and trace the suspects who fled the scene.

“We call upon members of the public with information that may help identify or locate those who fled to report it to the nearest police station. Please also report any suspicious activity that may be connected to this incident,” Kituuma said.
