Police Launch Manhunt for Suspect in Death of 15-Year-Old Student

By Robert Segawa

The Territorial Police in Lyantonde District, under the Greater Masaka West Region, have launched a manhunt for a man identified only as Isaac, who is believed to be behind the death of a 15-year-old girl.

The deceased has been identified as Nankinga Meble, a Senior Two student at Kyemamba Seed Secondary School.

According to reports, on the night of September 1st, Nankinga allegedly left her parents’ home without their knowledge and went to Kyemamba Trading Centre, where she spent the night at the rented residence of her alleged boyfriend, Isaac.

On the morning of Tuesday, September 2nd, Nankinga’s parents realized that their daughter had not returned home. They began searching for her within the trading centre. Around midday, they received information indicating that she had spent the night at Isaac’s place.

The parents proceeded to Isaac’s residence but found the door locked. They immediately reported the matter to Lyantonde Police.

According to Twaha Kasirye, the Greater Masaka Police spokesperson, officers responded to the report and forcibly entered the house. Inside, they discovered the lifeless body of Nankinga Meble lying on the bed.

Police opened a case of suspected murder, examined the scene, and transported the body to Lyantonde Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The body was handed over to the family for burial on Wednesday. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend Isaac, who is currently on the run.
