The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has announced an ambitious plan to improve infrastructure and service delivery in Kaberamaido District, including road construction, electricity expansion, and upgraded health facilities.

Speaking during his presidential campaign rally at Kaburepoli Primary School playgrounds in Ochero Sub-county, President Museveni confirmed that the government has secured funds to tarmac the 73-kilometer Katine–Ochero road in Kaberamaido District, as well as the Ochero–Amolatar–Dokolo road. He said the contractor identification process is underway and assured residents that construction would begin soon.
Museveni emphasized that these road projects will enhance inter-district connectivity and stimulate trade and social development in the Teso sub-region.

The NRM presidential candidate also pledged to enhance electricity distribution and expand the Ochero water supply system to reach the remaining 9% of households without access. He said these improvements are part of government’s ongoing commitment to universal access to essential utilities.
Museveni announced that two ferries — Bukungu–Kagwara–Kaberamaido — are ready for deployment to connect the districts of Kamuli, Serere, and Kaberamaido. Only the construction of docking areas remains before they are operational.

President Museveni cautioned local authorities against uneven distribution of government schools, noting that Kaberamaido District currently has 45 primary schools spread across 26 parishes, contrary to the education policy guideline of one primary school per parish and one secondary school per sub-county.
He promised to ensure equitable distribution of schools to guarantee access to education for all children in the district.
The NRM candidate pledged to upgrade Murem HCII and Kaburepoli HCII to HCIII status, and to construct new HCIIIs in Oriamo and Kaberamaido sub-counties. He also committed to intensify efforts toward the total eradication of malaria.

Museveni urged the people of Kaberamaido to prioritize wealth creation by utilizing funds under the Parish Development Model (PDM) as seed capital for commercial agriculture and small businesses. He revealed that each parish will receive UGX 800 million through their respective PDM SACCOs to support household-level enterprises.
He further pledged to create a separate fund for fishing communities, citing the higher capital needs of fisheries enterprises, and confirmed plans to scale up fish farming across the district.

Museveni and the electorate resolved to support the full implementation of Universal Primary and Secondary Education in all government schools. He also encouraged graduates from the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs in Kaberamaido to form joint enterprise groups to access government funding and expand their businesses.
The First Lady and Minister of Education, Maama Janet Kataha Museveni, rallied residents to defend the NRM’s achievements and consolidate progress through continued support for the party.
NRM National Vice Chairperson (Female), Rt. Hon. Anita Among, and Kaberamaido District NRM Chairperson Emetu Alli Hassan, also addressed the rally, highlighting the government’s accomplishments and outlining priorities for the next term.
