David Sembera, widely known as Selecta Rizzon, a journalist with Metro FM, is reportedly fighting for his life following allegations that he may have been poisoned. His health crisis comes at a time when tensions within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) are rising over the highly contested position of Second National Vice Chairperson—an internal race that has sharply divided party loyalists. Sembera has recently broken several exclusive stories involving both competing camps.

Sembera has been outspoken in reporting on developments within the camps of Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, the former Speaker of Parliament and now First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs, as well as the Kamuli District Woman MP; and Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among, the current Speaker of Parliament and Bukedea District Woman MP.
He is currently admitted at Royal Clinic in Busega, Wakiso District, where he is receiving treatment for a serious medical condition.
Reports circulating on social media suggest that Sembera’s sudden illness may be linked to his high-profile journalism work, though no official confirmation has been issued.

Formerly a journalist with Apex FM in Jinja, Sembera now works with Metro FM in Kampala. Beyond his media career, he is also known in the entertainment industry as a talent manager and music promoter.
News of his hospitalization has sparked concern among colleagues, politicians, and members of the entertainment community, many of whom describe him as energetic, outspoken, and committed to independent journalism.
As the NRM’s internal race continues to heighten divisions within the party, Sembera’s condition has added emotional weight to an already charged political climate. His family and close associates have urged the public to remain calm and allow medical professionals to continue their work as they await further updates on his condition.
