President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, has concluded his campaign trail in the Rwenzori and Tooro sub-regions with a final rally at Katoosa Primary School playgrounds in Kyenjojo District, unveiling a wide range of development commitments.

Museveni reaffirmed his focus on jobs and wealth-creation initiatives, promising to attract investors to accelerate industrialization in the region. He further announced plans to boost dairy farming in Kyenjojo District through the establishment of a milk processing plant to build on existing efforts in the sector.

The NRM candidate dismissed a proposal to establish an industrial park on protected forest land, instead pledging government support to acquire suitable land for the project. He said the industrial park will create significant employment opportunities for residents.

Museveni urged the people of Kyenjojo to safeguard the peace and stability brought by the NRM government, stressing that development and socioeconomic transformation can only thrive under a stable environment. He also cautioned residents against focusing solely on political positions at the expense of wealth creation, encouraging them to prioritize productive enterprises at household level.

Citing examples such as Joseph Basangwa of Kamuli and State Minister for Transport Fred Byamukama, Museveni said several leaders who embraced his guidance on wealth creation have since become successful and impactful to their communities.

The President advised residents to take advantage of ongoing infrastructure improvements to increase their participation in productive economic activities. He listed several road projects earmarked for the district, including the Kyenjojo–Kyegegwa–Mpara–Bwizi road and the Fort Portal–Kijura road, noting that the NRM has developed a comprehensive road maintenance strategy for both tarmac and murram roads.

Museveni further urged local leaders and residents to support the NRM’s prioritization strategy aimed at expanding key development infrastructure—roads, electricity, telecommunication, and water services.

He also committed to increasing the number of health centers and education facilities in Kyenjojo District in the next term of office.

In a firm stance against corruption, Museveni ordered the prosecution of Parish Development Model (PDM) officials soliciting kickbacks from beneficiaries. He directed the Minister for Local Government, Raphael Magyezi, to take immediate action together with the PDM Secretariat. He also encouraged communities to convene parish conferences to dismiss all corrupt PDM officials.

Museveni announced that enhanced development interventions would be rolled out next year, backed by proceeds from Uganda’s oil production expected to begin in 2026. He highlighted ongoing national infrastructure achievements, assuring the public that government has already cleared payments for the Mubende–Fort Portal road contractor.

The NRM candidate reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding wealth-creation programs for both small and large-scale landowners and elaborated on the four-acre model and proper enterprise selection.

During the rally, the NRM Second National Vice Chairperson, Anita Among, outlined development projects earmarked for Kyenjojo District under the forthcoming NDP4. The Kyenjojo District NRM Chairperson, Edward Nkonge, also presented the district status report.
