The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has extended his campaign trail to the Bunyoro Sub-region, where he pledged the establishment of an additional industrial park in Kibaale District to complement the planned Kabalega Industrial Park for petroleum-related production.

Addressing supporters at Buyanja Secondary School playgrounds in Kibaale District, Gen. Museveni tasked district leaders to secure at least one square mile of land to host the proposed industrial park.
He also directed the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabanja, to follow up on a range of service delivery commitments in Kibaale, including the resolution of a land dispute involving a forest reserve.

Gen. Museveni announced that the tarmacking of the Mpara–Kyegegwa–Hapuyo–Karuguza road would commence soon as part of the government’s broader infrastructure development plan for the district.
The NRM presidential candidate further questioned residents on the utilisation of seedlings distributed through Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), citing success stories from other regions such as Karamoja, where OWC initiatives have led to thriving fruit gardens, coffee plantations and dairy projects.

He encouraged residents to emulate the 4-Acre Model and other profitable enterprises promoted under NRM wealth-creation programs, emphasising the difference between wealth and development. Museveni urged households not to be distracted by the expanding infrastructure in the region at the expense of improving incomes at home.

Gen. Museveni also promised increased support for value-addition initiatives targeting agricultural produce as a strategy for job creation. He highlighted opportunities in commercial agriculture, artisanship and manufacturing, the services sector, and skills development — referencing graduates from the Presidential Zonal Industrial Skilling Hubs.

He praised the Local Defence Unit and Kibaale residents for their role in countering ADF threats and assured the public of the government’s commitment to national security. Museveni underscored peace and stability as key achievements of the NRM government, followed by development, wealth creation, and job opportunities.
All these remarks were delivered during the launch of the NRM presidential campaign trail in Bunyoro Sub-region at Buyanja Secondary School playgrounds in Kibaale District.
