The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has urged leaders in Lyantonde District to stop treating leadership as a personal career and instead view it as a call to serve the people.

Speaking during an NRM presidential campaign rally at Kaliiro Town Council Grounds, Museveni expressed concern over unnecessary conflicts among aspiring leaders competing for the same political positions in the district. He described the infighting as uncalled for and reminded leaders that their role is to advance the aspirations of the people if they are to remain relevant.

Drawing lessons from the NRA/M liberation struggle, Museveni emphasized that leadership should be guided by clear principles and collective goals. He advised conflicting factions in Lyantonde to seek guidance from the core values and principles of the NRM.
On service delivery, Museveni pledged to provide water drilling equipment to water-stressed districts in the cattle corridor, including Lyantonde and Ssembabule, to ease access to water for livestock and domestic use. He also promised to extend piped water supply to Lyantonde District from River Kagera, similar to projects implemented in neighboring districts such as Mbarara and Isingiro.

The NRM flag bearer further confirmed plans to upgrade key roads in Lyantonde District to tarmac standard. These include the Ntuusi–Kashagama–Lyantonde road, Lyantonde–Lumbugu–Lwamaggwa–Rakai road, Kabingo–Rugaaga–Rakai road, and the Lusalira–Kabamba–Ssembabule road, among others.
Museveni reiterated his concern over Members of Parliament who lack ideological grounding and divert public funds to non-priority sectors, saying this undermines national development efforts.

He noted that improved infrastructure and water access would boost wealth creation in Lyantonde and encouraged residents to take advantage of ongoing developments to improve their household incomes. Museveni also outlined government plans to maintain peace and security while accelerating development in the district.

Addressing economic empowerment, Museveni explained the NRM wealth creation strategy, urging residents to select viable enterprises, adopt the four-acre model, abandon subsistence living, and embrace modern farming methods to increase productivity.
He also highlighted various job opportunity sectors suitable for the people of Lyantonde District, calling on them to actively participate in income-generating activities to improve their livelihoods.
