The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has reaffirmed the party’s long-standing principle of national unity and respect for cultural diversity, emphasizing every community’s right to enjoy and preserve its cultural values, including the Baruli people of Nakasongora District.

Addressing supporters during an NRM presidential campaign rally in Nakasongora, Museveni explained that the restoration of cultural institutions was a deliberate NRM policy rooted in civil liberties, stressing that no community should deny another the freedom to uphold its traditions.
The NRM flag bearer also outlined ongoing and planned infrastructure developments in the district, citing additional tarmac road projects aimed at improving connectivity and economic activity. Among the roads highlighted were the Kikyuusa–Karungi–Nakasongora road and the Lwampanga–Amolatar road, which are expected to supplement the district’s existing tarmac network.

Museveni further highlighted the progress made in electricity distribution across Nakasongora District and pledged to scale up power coverage to support households, businesses, and industrial growth.

On environmental conservation, the NRM presidential candidate affirmed government plans to decongest Lake Kyoga while promoting fish farming as an alternative livelihood, aimed at preserving the lake and ensuring sustainable use of its resources.
He also revealed that government plans regarding proposed nuclear programs in the district are still under careful analysis, particularly focusing on safety standards and the long-term prospects of the projects.

Addressing land issues, Museveni assured residents of Nakasongora District that government would implement land compensation measures to resolve longstanding conflicts between tenants and landlords.
In the social sectors, the NRM candidate underscored gains made in education and health. He cited the construction of 114 government primary schools across parishes in the district and 10 government secondary schools in various sub-counties. In health, Museveni noted the presence of a District General Hospital, two Health Centre IVs, and nine Health Centre IIIs, while revealing plans to establish additional health facilities to improve service delivery.

Museveni also celebrated the government’s wealth creation initiatives across multiple sectors, outlining strategies aimed at increasing household incomes and promoting economic transformation.
Meanwhile, the NRM Second National Vice Chairperson, Anita Among, highlighted several development achievements in Nakasongora District, urging residents to protect these gains by re-electing President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers.
The NRM District Chairperson for Nakasongora, Christopher Nkoyoyo, concluded by presenting key highlights from the district memorandum, reflecting local priorities and development needs.
