The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has pledged to establish a Cultural Leaders Support Fund aimed at supporting cultural leaders and their appointees in the administration of kingdoms.

General Museveni assured residents that leaders from Obusinga will be integrated into the arrangement, emphasizing the NRM government’s commitment to inclusivity under its mass wealth creation initiatives designed to uplift individuals and households at the parish level.

Speaking during an NRM presidential campaign rally in Busongora North Constituency, Kasese District, Museveni revealed that Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCOs are projected to evolve into parish banks. He noted that government funding for the SACCOs is expected to increase from the current Shs100 million to more than double, to strengthen grassroots financial inclusion.

The NRM presidential candidate challenged the people of Busongora County North to actively participate in parish SACCO meetings and leadership, urging them to nurture the institutions so they can grow into strong community financial pillars.

General Museveni further called on residents to develop clear strategies to take advantage of opportunities in the three key sectors identified for wealth and job creation: tourism, commercial agriculture, and manufacturing. He explained that these sectors are central to the NRM government’s economic transformation agenda.

He highlighted examples of job creation opportunities within the three sectors and encouraged local communities to position themselves to benefit from government programs.

Museveni also cautioned the people of Busongora and Kasese District at large against sectarian politics, which he described as “poison” that undermines unity and development.

He concluded by rallying residents to decisively embrace wealth creation initiatives as outlined in the NRM manifesto, emphasizing discipline, unity, and hard work as the foundation for sustainable development.
