Namugongo Martyrs Shine as First PLE Candidates Excel with Flying Colours

Rev. Fr. Henry Kasasa, the Headmaster of Namugongo Martyrs Schools, has applauded the Primary Seven candidates for their outstanding performance in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) sat last year.

Speaking during celebrations held at Uganda Martyrs Nursery and Primary School, Namugongo—attended by candidates, parents, and teachers—Rev. Fr. Kasasa said the school’s Primary Section started in 2017 with only 35 pupils but has since grown to over 1,000 learners.

He revealed that last year, 35 pupils sat for PLE, and all passed excellently, with 34 candidates scoring First Grade and only one attaining a Second Grade.

Rev. Fr. Kasasa attributed the success to God’s guidance and thanked the School Management Committee led by Headmistress Elizabeth Nakayima, the teachers, and the parents for their unwavering support and dedication, which enabled the learners to excel.

Atuhaire Audrey got 8 aggregates.

As this marked the school’s first PLE project, Rev. Fr. Kasasa, who is also the Director of Uganda Martyrs Namugongo, announced that all 35 candidates had been granted free vacancies to join Senior One at Uganda Martyrs Secondary School, Namugongo. He further directed the school’s selection committee not to audit the candidates’ results to allow a smooth transition to the secondary section.

The Headmistress of Uganda Martyrs Nursery and Primary School, Elizabeth Nakayima, thanked the project founder for the vision to start the Primary Section, noting that it created employment opportunities. She also commended her staff for their hard work and commitment, which led to the remarkable performance.

One of the top-performing pupils, Ruth Abainomugisha, said faith in God, perseverance, and hard work were the key factors behind their success.
