Police Gives Preliminary Findings into Murder of UCU Dean of Students Tumwebaze, Intensify Probe

By Robert Segawa

Police in Mukono District have launched intensive investigations into the murder of the Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono.

The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Tumwebaze Pamela, a resident of Gwafu West Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division in Mukono District.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, the incident occurred shortly after midnight at the deceased’s residence.

Preliminary findings indicate that at around 2:00 a.m., the housemaid (names withheld) reportedly saw an unknown man inside the victim’s bedroom wearing the deceased’s jeans and stockings. The suspect allegedly fled the scene with a laptop bag belonging to the deceased.

The maid and the children later checked on Tumwebaze and found her unresponsive in her bed. She was rushed to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Kawala said a team of Scene of Crime officers, together with detectives from the Homicide Department, has been deployed to investigate the matter. Operations are underway to identify, trace, and arrest the suspect.

“We remain committed to ensuring that the perpetrator is apprehended and brought to book,” Kawala said.
