Body of the Late Orthodox Archbishop Jonah Lwanga is expected to arrive on Thursday

The body of fallen archbishop of the Orthodox Church in Kampala and All Uganda Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga is expected to arrive into the country onThursday this week from Greece where the late breathed his late.

Addressing various religious leaders from the Inter Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) who were led by the Anglican archbishop Dr. Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, Roman Catholic Church representative Mgr. Charles Kasibante among others, the Orthodox Church board of trustee Chairperson Fr. Kibuuka Bbosa said they expect the body of the late to arrive into the country on Thursday and he will be laid to rest on Sunday at Annonya Ddegeya in Luwero district this week.

Fr. Kibuuka who was with Fr. Archimandrite Constantine Mbonabingi, narrated to the mourners that the late Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga was diagnosed with Carcinoma Cancer and has been admitted in the Athens hospital, the capital of Greece for one month. He added that his death came as a shock to them.

Archbishop Kazimba Mugalu who spoke on behalf of the IRCU eulogized the late for his great works especially in building Christianity but also the country at large. They hence condoled with the Orthodox Church, family and friends.

Meanwhile, Lwemiyaga county Member of parliament Hon. Theodore Ssekikubo said the late has been instrumental in the development of the Churches, building of schools, hospitals and parishes.

He added that metropolitan Lwanga has been vocal on condemning issues affecting the lives of Ugandans especially when it came to injustices and poor governance.

The Late Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga died on Sunday Evening in a hospital in Athens capital city of Greece
