High Court Sentences Bbosa Tabula Lugya, Son to Death for Ndiga Clan Leader Murder

By Hannah Marion Namukasa

The High Court in Kampala has sentenced Bbosa Tabula Lugya and his son, Noah Bbosa Lugya, to death for the murder of former Ndiga Clan leader Lwomwa Engineer Daniel Bbosa.

The two pleaded guilty to the murder charges before Justice David Matovu on Thursday and were convicted on their own pleas.

The charges stem from the shooting of Engineer Bbosa on February 24, 2024, at Kikandwa Village in Lungujja, Kampala. His death shocked the Buganda Kingdom and triggered investigations by security agencies into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

During mitigation, Lugya asked the court and the deceased’s family for forgiveness. However, Gladys Bbosa, the widow of the former clan leader, urged the court to impose the maximum penalty on the two accused.

Justice Matovu subsequently sentenced Lugya and Noah to death, bringing the case against the two prime suspects to an end.

Three other suspects who denied the murder charges remain on remand and are expected to return to court in September 2026.

Engineer Bbosa was the leader of the Ndiga Clan in the Buganda Kingdom, where he was known by the traditional title Lwomwa. He was also a prominent businessman in the electronics sector and was well known in Buganda’s social and business circles.
