Scuffle erupted at Twine’s bar in Kireku zone Bweyogerere Division when a man stabbed to death his colleague over 2000 shillings during playing cards.
The deceased has been identified as Hamza Nuwamanya aged 35 years resident of Kireku zone located in Kira Municipality Wakiso district.

It’s alleged that on 17th after midnight the deceased, together with the suspects, was playing cards at Twine’s Bar in Kireku Zone. During the game, the deceased allegedly picked money amounting to UGX 2,000, belonging to Katabani Julius, which resulted in a quarrel between the two friends.
According to witnesses’ names withheld one Twine the owner of the bar reportedly intervened, paid the disputed amount, and ordered the group to leave the premises.
However, on reaching out side of the bar Katabani Julius now the suspect who was paid the 2000, allegedly followed the deceased outside the bar. A confrontation ensued, during which the deceased reportedly boxed Katabani Julius, who then allegedly stabbed him with a knife.
Racheal Kawala Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson confirmed the incident saying the deceased was immediately rushed to Kireku Health Centre for medical attention and was subsequently referred to Mulago Hospital for further management. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital on the afternoon of 17 August 2026.
Relevant statements have been recorded from witnesses and other persons of interest.
The body of the deceased was conveyed to Kampala City Mortuary Mulago pending postmortem examination.
Kawala further adds that police have launched a manhunt to arrest the main suspect to bring him to book.
She says that three suspects including the owner of the bar on Twine has been arrested to help police in its investigations
