Princes of Kigulu Chiefdom, led by Omumbito Kyeyago Ismael, have joined the people of Tooro in mourning the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, describing the late monarch as a royal brother and a great loss to Uganda’s traditional institutions.
The Kigulu royal representatives, under the Babaito Baise Ngobi clan of Busoga, conveyed their condolences to the Royal Family and the people of Tooro through a formal condolence message.
In the message, Omumbito Kyeyago Ismael, on behalf of the Babaito Baise Ngobi Clan Head, Obwakyabazinga Bwa Busoga, expressed deep sorrow following the death of the Omukama.
The princes recalled the historical relationship between Busoga and Tooro, noting that both kingdoms share a long cultural history and strong ties.
“We, the Babaito Clan of Busoga, learnt with profound shock and deep sorrow of the news of the demise of His Majesty Rukirabasaija Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV,” the message reads in part.
The Kigulu princes said the late King Oyo had served his people with humility and dedication, while praying for comfort and strength for the Tooro Royal Family.
They further described the late monarch as a royal brother whose death has touched the hearts of people in Busoga.
“May the Almighty God and our ancestors grant you and us all strength. May the soul of His Majesty rest in eternal peace,” the message states.
The mourning by the Kigulu royal establishment comes as cultural institutions across Uganda continue to pay tribute to the late Tooro monarch and stand in solidarity with the Tooro Royal Family during this period of grief
