The incoming Secretary for External Affairs of the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA), Dan Mukisa, has pledged to strengthen international partnerships and boost the global visibility of Ugandan journalists.

Speaking shortly after his election, Mukisa said his priority will be to build stronger bridges between Ugandan journalists and media bodies across the world.
“As the incoming Secretary for External Affairs, my commitment is to build stronger bridges between Ugandan journalists and the outside world. I will work to strengthen our partnerships, protect the welfare and image of our journalists internationally, and open more opportunities for training, exposure, and collaboration,” Mukisa said.

He noted that many Ugandan journalists have talent but lack international exposure, training opportunities, and protection when working on cross-border stories.
Mukisa, who is also a journalist with trusted news Uganda, said he is ready to undertake all international engagements and interviews starting this week and looks forward to working with his counterparts from other countries.

“Together, we shall make UJA more visible, respected, and connected globally. I am ready for all international interviews and engagements, and I welcome my counterparts from other countries as we push our agenda for a stronger journalism fraternity,” he added.

He called for unity within the association, adding that a united UJA will be able to advocate better for press freedom, journalist safety, and professional development.
The Uganda Journalists Association is the umbrella body that brings together journalists across the country to advocate for their welfare.
