Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer and party president Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi has promised to increase teacher’ salaries to match up to international standards.
While addressing a campaign meeting at Osupa primary school playground in Pallisa district in eastern uganda. Amuriat pledged to raise the salary of a primary school teacher to a minimum of 800,000 (eight hundred thousand shilling) and a secondary school teacher to 1,200,000 ( one million two hundred thousand shillings).
He decried of the bad conditions and poor pay teachers have to endure to meet their everyday needs and yet they offer a great service to the country.
On the sad note, Victoria Akisi, 18 years old who was coming from the garden was hit by fragments of a grenade thrown by police at Onyamatug trading center Okwateta Sub-county Pallisa district.
Victoria was rescued by Amuriat and the kingdom KTV journalist Paul Bakabulinde who carried her the nearby clinic for treatment.
Amuriat lashed at police for conducting themselves as unprofessional. He asserted that we has seen cases where junior officers give commands to the regional police commanders.
He also requested the chairperson of the electoral commission to resign since he has proved to be incompetent in handling the electoral matters.
Meanwhile Amuriat Paid a visit to the family of the late Abudallah Nsone who was the FDC flag bearer of Kabweri County in Kibuku district.
The late Nsonye died in a road accident a few days ago.
