Buganda is a light in the middle of the night

By Ndawula Ronald

Israel is a country in Middle East surrounded by its enemies. This chosen land and tribe is said to be over flowing with honey and milk as in Gods promise.

Israel and its enemies are always at war and sometimes Israel is swept off the world map, like till its last return recently at the end of the Second World War.

This has not stopped Israel from growing by the day and it’s the fulcrum of world development in technology.

The Jews (Israelis) regard themselves as Gods chosen people and make use of that thinking to pride themselves as the wittiest and divine tribe.

This mindset helps their survival amidst their enemies and many times that instinct of believing in themselves always suffice.

Hon. Oulanyas deaths has resurrected a silent, age old debate and feud the Baganda have over their many neighboring tribes.

The many veiled arguments from all levels of leadership is clear manifestation of the deeply ingrained hate the Baganda have from her neighbors.

If Hajji Nadduli had the opportunity to chip in at this stage he would have given us the genesis of this hate.

Usually hate evolves from egoistic and competitive aspiration of two or more groups of people vying for a common good.

Like when two Male partners are vying for one beauty aueen and one starts feeling inferior for some reason.

Even without the lady, the Male who got inferiority complex will always look with a bad eye towards the other Male who has a competitive advantage.

When I see that this time there’s no Muganda who made it to the first 10 cabinet ministries and appointments I smell a male rat.

When I hear Hon.Mao trying to twist the conversation about Oulanyas deaths and turning it into a tribal conflict, then I know something is dead wrong.

I also believe when Mao visited Oulanya together with Chief Justice in Seattle USA he must have biased the chief Justice’s mind on the plane which made him tow his line of reasoning at a virgil in Muyenga.

For Mao, his problem is Namboze , lukwago , Mpuuga Seghona and other Bagamda who left him a shell of an empty party to be President  which was very painful.

The painful fact in Uganda is Buganda is like a light in the middle of the night. You can’t avoid looking at it, and naturally you will always find yourself moving towards it.

All Ugandans have to flow towards Buganda to be relevant.

The day those in government decide to take away this light and move it to some other part of the country will be the day maybe Buganda will lose its shine.

Nature has gifted this location so much that anyone to make some relevancy has to have some attachment here. The reason why Oulanyas finished house is in Muyenga and the unfinished in Omolo.

The day the people from other regions stop developing the area of the people they hate will be the day that area stops shining or else we’re fighting a losing and vain battle because from the start we are meant to be each other’s keeper.

Museveni said it well, that he likes Baganda because he sells them milk and the people in other areas like Buganda because they sell matooke.

The many sky high buildings on the Kampala horizon are owned by people who hate Buganda but don’t have a choice on where to station them.

The best way is to teach ourselves that we’re Ugandans and ignore the petty segments and differences of our tribes and we shall have peace.

If Baganda have Kabaka then you also get yours. If Baganda have Kampala, then you also work hard to develop Gulu or Lira.

If Baganda have Mulago make sure another one is in Mabarara Arua, kitigum , soroti and others.

As for me, i believe there should be no competition, I don’t care because Luganda is just another language but the skin is black, therefore ignore and move on.
