Journalists body UJA, UPFM unveil World press freedom day celebration activities

Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) the body that unites all journalists in the country and the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Media (UPFM) have unveiled the activities to be undertaken by journalists and other stakeholders to celebrate the World Press Freedom Day due on 3rd May.

Unveiling the activities at Speke hotel Kampala, UJA President Mathias Rukundo said they are set to have a number of activities that will include inter-Media house sports gala that will be hold on 1st, April at Philip Omondi Stadium Lugogo, Prayers, environmental initiative where over 100,000 trees will be planted across the country, Face lifting camps, parliamentary media quarterly magazine and a media dinner on the d- day of 3rd may.

Mathias Rukundo said they decided to a have a sports gala and media dinner to further the unity of the fraternity, have a rest and joyful time away from work deadlines and other work related stresses and hazards.

Teddy Nambooze, the UPFM Chairperson and Mpigi Woman Member of Parliament urged all Journalists across the country to take part in the aforementioned programs.

The World Press Freedom Day for 2022 will be commemorated under the theme; “Journalism under surveillance: Much focus on digital challenges in relation to media and Press freedom”.
