Presidential Special task force on land matters rescues Kabaka’s Gombolola land

The Presidential Special Taskforce on Land Matters, State House headed by Brigadier General Lukyamuzi Moses on Thursday morning rescued approximately 3 acres of land on Kabaka and Buganda administration headquarters of Kira Sub County (Gombolola) which had been encroached on and invaded by land grabbers.

According to the letter by the Buganda Kingdom Attorney General Owekitibwe Christopher Bwanika addressed to  Brig. Gen. Lukyamuzi Moses, the land grabbers led by Ssabaddu (Sub county chief) Nathan Kaggwa Kasibante, and others identified as Kakooza, Mutebi and Hajjati Mwebe invaded Kabaka’s land on Kyandondo Block 185, plot 11Vat Kira formerly MRV 506 folio 17 and graded the land without the knowledge of the Buganda administration thus seeking for the intervention of the Task force since they had failed to get any help from other land related organizations and authorities including security organs.

Following the scrutiny of the letter and the concern in it, led by the Presidential Special Taskforce on Land Matters, State House in charge administration Omulangira Jjuko Kyakulumbye Walugembe Muly’azaawo, Military police and Buganda Kingdom guard brigade led by Maj. Musaazi swung into action, deployed at the contested and sealed it off with iron sheets in abide to stop any further encroachment and development without authorization by the Buganda Kingdom administration.

Omulangira Jjuko said “We received a complaint from the Buganda Kingdom attorney general Owek. Christopher Bwanika seeking for our intervention to stop a gang of crooks who had grabbed part of the Kira Gombolola land which we did. We advised the encroachers to use the rightful channel to acquire the land like those that managed to get the lease from Buganda kingdom on this very land that comprises of 46 acres rather than taking it by force in the name of having big government officials behind them.

In the same way, the Deputy Ssabaddu (Kira Subcounty Deputy Chief) Hajji Hassan Bulwadda confirmed that indeed some crooks conniving with some leaders of Kira Gombolola administration invaded part of Gombolola land and graded it without the permission from Buganda Kindgdom top administration that must first endorse any development on the Kingdom’s Land.

Hajji Bulwadde applauded government through the presidential special taskforce on land matters for answering the call from the Buganda Kingdom to save Kabaka’s land.

However, shortly Chaos ensued when Ssabaddu (Kira Gombolola Chief) Nathan Kaggwa Kasibante and his group stormed the headquarters contesting the move to seal off the contested land but they didn’t succeed since they were arrested on spot.

A bitter, assertive speaking Ssabaddu Kasibante emphasized that he will not give up on saving Kabaka’s land despite the frustration from Mengo and Buganda Land Board.

Ssabaddu said, he has written several letters to the Kingdom top administration and the Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga informing them of how they are to construct a Market and Hospital on the contested land in honor of the Kabaka’s directive to all sub county chiefs to develop the land but no response has since been availed.
