Newly elected Uganda Medical Association (UMA) president Dr. Edith Nakku has committed to reunite members who had abandoned the association following the statement from their former President Dr Samwel Oledo praising Uganda’s president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and requesting him to contest for the same seat come 2026.

On Sunday 18th an Extraordinary General Meeting convened and voted to suspend Dr Oledo as a member of Uganda Medical Association for 4 years and also voted the Vice President Dr. Edith Nakku-Joloba as the new President.
While addressing journalists at Kololo on Monday morning, Dr Edith Nakku -Joloba the new president said that UMA is not a partisan Association and anybody doing partisan things is an enemy who must be dealt with decisively.
She says during in her tenure she is going to make sure that members are united to serve Ugandans.
UMA secretary General Dr Herbert Luswata believes that voting out Dr. Oledo will serve as an example to all members of UMA who have intentions of politicking instead of serving its well laid out aims and objectives.
