Speaker Among tells off EU to respect Uganda’s cultural values

The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has asked the European Union to respect the cultural values and norms of Ugandans, saying that a good partnership strikes a balance between interests.

Speaking during a meeting with the European Union Head of Mission in Uganda Ambassador Jan Sadek, the Speaker informed him that the Ugandan community doesn’t support Homosexuality and Lesbianism and Parliament has a duty to defend those values.

She applauded the EU  the support towards different humanitarian  programs, and fostering sustainable development, especially in the agricultural and Health sectors.

Ambassador Sadek in his response stated that the EU is a respectful partner and called for cooperation between the two Parliaments to ensure that priorities coincide.  

He also commended  Uganda for it’s positive contribution to addressing the security challenges in the region.
