City journalist petition UCC over defamatory utterances by a pastor

By Hannah Marion Namukasa

Kampala bound journalist and business man Meddie Musisi has petitioned Uganda communication commission (UCC) to cause Top Television and Top radio to stop running false utterances allegedly defaming his person.

Through his lawyers of Mukeera and company advocates, Musisi says he is perturbed by the false utterances regularly playing on both media houses owned by Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga of Christian Life Church Bwaise.

He said the defamatory utterances by Pastor Moses Akampulira of Kikyusa, Luweero district borders on his religion, personality and morals.

In his July 14, 2023 letter, he asked UCC to intervene and order the media houses to stop the false utterances.

He said the unfortunate claims were allegedly recorded on June 15, 2023 when Pastor Jackson ssenyonga hosted Akampulira, pastor Amos Sserusago from Rakai and Pastor Robert. Kyamagero on his P5 program who repeatedly referred to him as a drunkard and a liar.

Meddie Musisi says he is a staunch Moslem who has never tested any liquor in his life time and hope not to taste the same given the Moslem religious teachings and belief let alone him not being a liar.

He said such utterances have caused him anguish and defamed his person before his fellow employees at New vision, relatives, fans and the entire Moslem community.
