FDC’s Amuriat vows to revive cooperative unions in Ankole region

By Kabuye Ronald

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer and party president Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi has vowed to revive cooperative unions in the Ankole region to eradicate the immense poverty in the region once voted into the highest office in the country.

Amuriat made the remarks while campaigning in the various areas of Sheema and Mitooma districts.

He claimed that president Museveni intentionally killed cooperative unions in the western Uganda which brought about the immense poverty in the region.

“I understand poverty came to western Uganda when Mr. Museveni killed your cooperative unions. He killed Banyankole Kwetarana cooperative union just to keep you people in poverty but once you entrust me and the FDC candidates into leadership of this country, your cooperative unions will be revived.” Said Amuriat.

He also dismissed the notion that people from Ankole region are well off saying that the reverse is true since only 1% of the population has benefited from the incumbent NRM government.

Meanwhile Eng. Amuriat and his team first camped at the Mbarara police station until his driver Nasur Din Basalirwa was released from the police cell.
