The presiding Bishop for the Evangelical Orthodox Church (EOC) in Uganda, Jacinto Kibuuka has condemned the ongoing abductions, kidnaps and torture of people by the security forces.
Bishop Kibuuka who was celebrating the Ash Wednesday Divine Liturgy at Mamre International prayer centre in Namugongo Janda, advised the security organs to be professional and use the legally well stipulated procedures while arresting the suspected criminals as opposed to abductions.
He called on the security organs to publish the names of the abductees in their custody and allow their families, lawyers and relatives access them since they are in great worry, psychological and emotionally trauma.
“If security officers are arresting wrong doers let them do it legally and make them known to the entire country than abducting them since it greatly worries us “said Bishop Kibuuka

Bishop Kibuuka also condemned the brutality meted against journalists by the security officers while doing their constitutional mandate.
“Journalists covering news about Bobi Wine is not reason to batter them. It seems some security officers are on a mission to tarnish government’s name.
I urge you security officers to stop such inhumane acts since you too wouldn’t wish to be treated in the same manner. Treat the citizens as your fellow brothers, sisters and friends” said Kibuuka
Meanwhile Bishop Kibuuka urged Christians to use the lent period to pray and intercede for the counrt and also practice the three principal of the period which include: a deserving fast, praying and repentance and arms giving to the needy people.
