Buganda road court chief Magistrate Asuman Muhumuza has granted bail to the four members of the local comedy group Bizonto who were arrested today morning from Radio Simba where they also work as radio presenters.
The four include: Julius Serwanja alias Ssabazonto, 35, Maliseeri Mbabali, Giant zonto36, Gold Ki-Mating, Jajja Zonto 49, and Peter Ssabakaki, young zonto 35 were charged with promotion of sectarianism which charges they denied as well.
After denying the charges, the four applied for bail which was granted to them at shs 100,000 and their sureties at shs 500,000 not cash.
The prosecution contends that four accused persons and others still at large during June 2020 within the district of Kampala, made and published on different social media platforms, a video containing information which is likely to discontent/disaffection among the citizens of Uganda against Banyankole tribe indicating that most of the leaders are from that tribe.
Court adjourned the matter to April 8, for mention of the charges.
