NRM boycotts Buganda Caucus elections as Muwanga Kivumbi is declared Chairperson

Members of parliaments in Buganda on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket have on Wednesday boycotted the Buganda Caucus elections in which Butambala county legislator on National Unity Platform (NUP) merged as the Chairperson.

NRM legislators for some good time have been chairing the Caucus with the immediate former leaders being Hon. Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga and Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Ssubi respectively who are both now former legislators.

The reasons for the NRM’s boycott are still unclear.

Meanwhile, NUP took the lions share in the newly unopposed declared leadership presided over by the Busiro East Legislator Hon. Medard Lubega Ssegona.

Chairperson: Mohammad Muwanga Kivumbi (Butambala County), NUP

2. Vice Chairperson: Dr. Lulume Bayigga Michael Phillip (Buikwe South), DP

3. General Secretary: Patrick Nsanja Kayongo (Ntenjeru North), Independent

4. Treasurer: David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga (Busujjj), NUP

5. Publicity Secretary-Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa (Mityana district woman Mp), NUP

6. Secretary for Mobilization: Yusuf Nsibambi-Mawokota South), FDC

7. Secretary for Welfare and Development: Fred Kayondo (Mukono South), DP

8. Secretary for External Relations: Dr. Christine Ndiwalana (Bukomansimbi North), NUP

09. Secretary for Cultural Affairs: Denis Ssekabira (Katikamu North), NUP
