Parliament has approved former Lands and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) minister, Beti Olive Namisango Kamya, as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG).
President Yoweri Museveni, on July 15, appointed Kamya as the new IGG to replace Justice Irene Mulyagonja, who was appointed as a Court of Appeal justice.

Reliable sources indicated that the parliamentary appointment committee led be its deputy chairperson who is also the deputy speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among approved Beti Kamya’s appointment.

This became more evident when the government Chief Whip, Thomas Tayebwa, congratulated Kamya upon her approved.
Following her appointment as the sixth IGG, there was a public uproar with sections of the legal fraternity and opposition leaders critiquing her asserting that she may notably execute her duties due to her having no legal background.
