Ndejje Division council acquires land for headquarters amidst enormous debts

Ndejje Division Urban Council, in Makidye Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District has acquired land where it will build its headquarters.

Ndejje Divison Chairperson Dr. Shafiq Sonko revealed the milestone during the second council sitting where committee chairpersons were elected.

Dr. Sonko said the land is found in Mutungo parish, Kakoola village however he didn’t divulge into details though our independent search indicated that it was bought at shs, 100 million despite having  a debt of about  Shs 200 million which was left by the previous council leadership.

Sonko said that the council has rent arrears of three months, canteen arrears, allowances arrears for the former councilors, salary arrears for division staffs among others.

He also revealed that the Division has been able to lobby 9 safe and clean water wells which will be built in all the three parishes that make up the division. 

Sonko further spoke hard on the issue of hiking taxes in the division before rallying residents to table their complaints before him in case of any. He hence rallied them to always endeavor to pay taxes in time in order to foster smooth operations and service delivery.

In the same way, councilors who included Kabuye Umar representing Ndejje central cell, Nkwangu Alex Ssemugenze representing Kanyanya cell and Sambya Dauda representing Milimu cell spoke out on their conviction to serving their electorates 

“Being a youth who is pro-development and sports, I am going to work tooth and nail to ensure that talents are groomed and improved in addition to having a better welfare of our electorates” Kabuye Umar said

“Since I sit on the finance committee, my focus is going to be on ensuring accountability, transparency, proper allocation of resources and service delivery to everyone” said Alex Nkwangu Ssemugenze

“Iam going to fight to my level best to ensure that we create employment opportunities for Ndejje residents. Many times when we have projects running contractors tend to fetch casual workers from areas outside Ndejje division but I want to put an end to that with the help of council. I believe once unemployment is fought it will automatically solve the problem of criminality.” Said Sambya Dauda
