His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Nairobi has been appointed as care taker of Uganda Orthodox Church

Following the demise of His Eminence Archbishop Jonah Lwanga Metropolitan of  Kampala and All Uganda at the age 76 years, His Eminence, Archbishop Makarios (Tillyrides) Metropolitan of Nairobi and Exarch of All Kenya, has been appointed the care taker of the Ugandan church.

Archbishop Makarios was appointed by His beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Greek Patriarchate Alexanderia and All Africa.

His Eminence Makarios will officially commence his duties once he arrives in the country with the first task being preparation of the Burial arrangements.

The late Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga breathed his last on Sunday, from Athens capital city of Greece, where he had been hospitalized with Carcinoma Cancer.
