Orthodox Pope and Patriarch visits Buikwe elevates Fr. Lubega

The Orthodox Pope and patriarch for Alexandria and All Africa His Beatitude Pope Theodore II, has consecrated St. Catherine Monastery Church at Busaana Village, Nyenga Sub-county Buikwe District.

Pope Theodores who is on a weeklong visit to Uganda also elevated Fr. Prodoromos Lubega to the Position of Archimandrite and also the leader of the Monastery.

On Friday, The Pope is expected to visit Gulu city.

The cardinal purpose of Pope Theodore’s visit is gracing the memorial mass for the late. Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 17th, at St. Nicolas, Cathedral Namugoona, Rubaga Division Kampala.

It should be noted that 17th, October marks the 40 days since the passing on of the Archbishop of Kampala and All Uganda Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga. In the tradition orthodox church when a person dies they organize a memorial mass after 40 days.
