Uganda police spokesperson Fred Enanga has confirmed that two people have lost their lives in the Swift bus explosion at Lunagala along the Kampala- Masaka highway.

Enanga has said a team of bomb experts has been dispatched to the venue where the incident occurred.

“A team of bomb experts has been dispatched to Lungala, along the Kampala-Masaka highway, after a deadly explosion occurred on a bus belonging to Swift Safaris Bus company under registration number UAU 989T, at around 5pm . The bus was traveling from Kampala to Bushenyi.

So far two people have been confirmed dead and several other victims including injured persons being evacuated from the scene. “Said Enanga in a statement

The explosion comes three days after the bomb attack in Komamboga, Kawempe division, kampala suburb at a pork joint.

Islamic State terrorist group has come up to claim responsibility of the Komamboga incident but Ugandan police has said it has not established yet whether the claims are true.

Enanga added that the scene has been cordoned off pending a thorough assessment and investigation by the bomb experts.
